Conrad Herwig

It would not surprise me if in the next hundred years a future John Coltrane is a trombone player.

A true virtuoso, a three-time Grammy award nominee and one of the most influential trombonists of the past quarter century, Hip-Bone Music is proud to feature the great Conrad Herwig as our bone2pick artist of the month for October. Conrad has released 23 CDs as a solo artist and appeared on over 200 CDs as a featured sideman. He has toured and recorded with a veritable who’s who of jazz including Miles Davis, Joe Henderson, Eddie Palmieri, Joe Lovano, Jack DeJohnette and Tom Harrell to name just a few. Conrad generously shares his thoughts and feelings on everything from going to the same high school with President Obama, his time at North Texas State, the early days of his career with Clark Terry and Buddy Rich, taking the trombone to places it has never gone before, becoming the chair of the jazz studies program at Rutgers University and some invaluable advice for young musicians looking to forge a career in the ultra competitive world of jazz. Don’t miss this electrifying sit down with a true virtuosic legend.
