Peter Steiner

Find what you love doing and then get to grinding. And find the fun and love in that grinding.

Hip-Bone Music is back and kicks off our 2023 season with an energizing sit down featuring one of today’s true virtuoso trombonists, Mr. Peter Steiner. Peter touches on growing up in Bolzano, Italy, studying in Austria and eventually at the Juilliard School, performing with the Vienna Philharmonic, NY Philharmonic, Dallas Symphony, Munich Philharmonic, and becoming the premier trombone soloist in world today. Enjoy!

Another great interview, Mike.
Peter—please consider getting a manager. It will free up your time and probably lead to higher level engagements. You are an inspiration to us all. Thank you!!!

Hi Michael, I’ve enjoyed all of your interviews since you started Bone2Pick…all informative and inspiring with many of the musicians I most respect and admire.
I must say that your interview with Peter Steiner really touched me. I’m a sixty-something trombonist who finds it hard to find the inspiration of my youth. This young man has one of the qualities I most admire…the ability to truly communicate his inspiration and inspire us at the same time! BRAVO Michael and Peter!!

He is a brilliant musician and trombonist. As an American who played principal trumpet in a major European orchestra for 31 years, I will just say that Americans are very impressed (too impressed?) by Europeans. Like – if it comes from Europe, it’s better. Not necessarily true, of course. Be objective, that’s all. My zwei pfennig. Grüss Gott.
