Ralph Sauer

Whenever you have a choice between the facts and the legend, always go with the legend. Whatever you’ve heard is true.

Hip-Bone Music is proud to kick off our 2014 bone2pick year with January’s artist of the month, the great Ralph Sauer. Regarded as one of the premier orchestral trombonists of any generation, Mr. Sauer was appointed Principal Trombonist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic by Zubin Mehta in 1974 and held that position for 32 years. He is active worldwide as a soloist and clinician and has served on the faculties of the Eastman School of Music, Music Academy of the West and Arizona State University. His solo recordings and orchestral excerpt CDs have set the industry standard in great trombone playing and consummate musicianship for decades. We hope you enjoy this insightful, candid and inspiring interview with one of the all-time greats. Happy New Year from Hip-Bone Music!
