Chris Gekker

We’re always going to be on the brink of disaster, that’s just the way the music business is. I believe it will always find a way, because music is part of being human.

Hip-Bone Music proudly wraps up it’s third year of bone2pick interviews by featuring the most recorded trumpet player in the chamber music medium, Mr. Chris Gekker. Currently the Professor of Trumpet at the University of Maryland, Chris was a member of the American Brass Quintet for 18 years, as well as being principal trumpet of the Orchestra of St. Lukes and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. He has served as guest principal trumpet with the New York Philharmonic and San Francisco Symphony, as well as performing and recording with the likes of Sting, Billy Joel, Peter Gabriel and Wayne Shorter. A thoughtful, inspiring and illuminating sit down with one of the most virtuosic trumpet players of all-time.
